Red-tailed Hawk chick on the nest, June 15, 2023. Nearing fledging; the eyas gives its wings some workout, adult brings in food. Video included in this post.

New species, Bushtit. After hummingbirds, the Sierra’s smallest bird. Usually found in flocks and they build hanging nests. This one is a female; note the white eye. Photographed in nearly the same location as the Yellow-breasted Chat (see previous post).
