Bellamy Tract and Quincy Junction Road

More action at the Bellamy Tract Bird feeders, then a Wood Duck pair and a NEW SPECIES for me, out along Quincy Junction Road/Chandler Road.

Downy Woodpecker. I don’t get to see this species very often, although abundant around Quincy. They’re just shy and elusive most times.
A double-delight pair of Evening Grosbeak males.
Purple Finch male, American Goldfinch female, Evening Grosbeak female.
American Goldfinch male, at right.
And he’s outta there!
California Mule Deer strolling the ‘hood just down the street from the house that has the feeders.
Later the same day, an afternoon bicycle ride out Quincy Junction Road allowed me to spot this Wood Duck couple. The female is at right, drab colored but with a very distinctive eye outline. This is the second time I’ve spotted a Wood Duck this year, but the first opportunity for a photo.
Now the new species: Bewick’s Wren. This brings my check-off list total to 140 (out of 312 as listed on Plumas Audubon “Checklist of Plumas County Birds”). Photographed at Longnose Bridge (aka Oakland Camp Bridge) at the the confluence of Greenhorn Creek and Spanish Creek on Chandler Road, Quincy, CA.
